Has pokerstars changed
The answer is yes, Poker Stars has changed. As of December 2016, the biggest change was to their rake structure. Poker Stars used to have low rake rates on some games and high rake rates on others, but now all of their games have the same low rake rate percentage. The new rake structure is: No Limit Hold’em: 10% Omaha Hi-Lo: 8% Pot-Limit Omaha: 5% Pot-Limit Hold’em: 5% Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo: 5% Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo (Turbo): 3% MTTs: 15% 6 Max WPTs: 8%Of course, this means that the overall rake yield for most games will be lower than it was before, but players with higher stakes will still get a better deal than they did before.
Are there different versions of PokerStars?
The answer to this is a bit complicated and depends on what you are looking for in a poker room. There are a few different versions of Poker Stars you can choose from. The first is the main Poker Stars site where all their poker games are played, including their Texas Holdem tournaments and satellites. This is the site most people are familiar with and plays at the Starsfish lobby. The second is the StarsNGames poker site which only has Holdem games and tournaments, along with some low stake Sit & Go’s. This has been around for quite a while but is only available in certain countries/lobbies/tournament rooms. There is also another version of Pokerstars that only plays CO-OP Tournaments and Satellites, these can only be played in certain rooms that are often exclusive to these games (green dot rooms), there are no entry fees for this though and these can be quite lucrative. Lastly there is another site that only caters to an American audience called PartyPoker, this site has its own lobby, doesn’t use Rakeback or Starsfish but uses PokerHost.com instead so you need an account with that site in order to play poker on it. There are also slight differences in terms of features with PartyPoker being slightly more advanced and often having better promotions than PokerStarsNGames (if anyone is interested in playing on PartyPoker I suggest signing up for an account as it’s currently offering a $50 free bonus – https://www2.pokertricks4poker.com I recommend also signing up for their newsletter as they have some great promotions https://www2.pokertricks4poker.com/newsletter ). All of these sites use the same software (websockets + PLO TD) so you can move between them freely on your PC or mobile device so long as you have StarsNGames installed on your device (I believe PartyPoker also uses PLO TD but haven’t tested this yet).
